Good day all
My father was master of spanish tanker "Campeche" during the days of WW2. he was aged 37 in 1941
and he spent all the war's time in atlantic voyages bet Spain and usgulf ports bringing oil products
to the post-civil war Spain.
In july 1941 that vessel rescued the crew of british aux cruise Lady Somers, 175 people, in north atlantic bet azores islands and portuguese coast nearwhich was said to be torpedoed and sunk by italian submarine MOROSINI under comand of Comm Athos Fraternale??.
All british crew survived and I guess it was due to a gentleman's behavior of submarine's command
may be still frequently in 1941 (nothing to say against current behaviour of german submarine officers at that time.
I wonder if somebody in this forum can supply more detailed info about that facts.
